Welcome
Small scale (micro) project fund
General information
Micro-projects should have an immediate impact and be implementable within a calendar year. They respond to specific emergencies among the population and meet the basic needs of the poorest sections of society. Material goods or short-term training measures may be funded to achieve this objective. The beneficiary and the local population should make their own contribution as far as possible. Funding amount cannot exceed 25.000 euros (approximately 29,000 USD). The ultimate goal is “helping people to help themselves”.

Selection of projects in January/February
Based on available fundings for the budget year, the Embassy takes a decision on which projects can be financed and with which amount. Selected applicants are requested to submit a formal application as well as additional documents.
Contractual basis in March/April
Upon completion of the entire documentation, a contract between the Embassy and the applicant is signed and the first tranche of payment is done. The second tranche of payment is due in the second half of the year.
Project visits and reporting from June to December
Once the project starts being implemented, project visits by the Embassy are carried out. Applicants have to present proves for the use of fundings and present their final report.
Please note
The German Embassy in Monrovia receives a large number of proposals to consider every year. Due to the limited financial scope of our micro-project programme, only a small number of these proposals can be funded. The more precisely you prepare your application, the more details about your ideas and the involved costs you provide, and the clearer it becomes that your organization follows high standards of transparency and accountability, the higher are the chances of being considered.
For further information and/or additional explanation please contact the Embassy.
